How DreamFusion Works:

Text Prompt: The process begins with a textual description of the desired 3D object or scene.

NeRF Initialization: A NeRF, which is a neural network that represents 3D scenes, is randomly initialized.

Score Distillation Sampling (SDS): SDS leverages the pre-trained 2D diffusion model to iteratively refine the NeRF. Rendered 2D images from the NeRF are compared against the diffusion model's expectations, and the NeRF is optimized to minimize this difference.

3D Model Generation: Through this optimization, a coherent 3D model is produced that aligns with the input text description.

This method allows the generated 3D models to be viewed from any angle, illuminated under various lighting conditions, and integrated into different 3D environments. Notably, DreamFusion achieves this without the need for explicit 3D training data, demonstrating the efficacy of 2D diffusion models as priors for 3D synthesis.
